In 2009, the Robin Hood Foundation ran a campaign, called Bin a Tin. We encouraged companies, schools and organizations to collect tins and place them in the bins that we provided. From March to September, we managed to collect more than 30 000 tins and more than R250 000 worth of staple food items. All food collected was then distributed to the neediest grannies in our gogo bags.
We were so excited at the support we received in 2009 that we decided to host our Bin a Tin campaign again in 2010 from March to September. We need your help. We are looking for companies, schools, churches, clubs and organizations to host a bin and to collect tins or basic staple food items that are non-perishable, such as maize, beans, rice and samp.
We will happily give publicity where we can to those organizations that do something news-worthy. We encourage companies to get their various departments to compete against each other. Schools can also get their various classes or grades to compete.
Every single food item collected will go into the gogo bags that we make up, which are then distributed to needy grannies in Aids affected communities.
